FAQ
What do you mean by 'awards'?
Ideas are powerful things, and if the encouragement and support is provided to realise these ideas then we believe it can have huge impact. Our award schemes aim to provide the tools to enable people (usually students) to transform their ideas into positive action. Once an award scheme has been designed, we promote it and invite entries. Applicants are then challenged to structure and organise their idea. The best ideas will be selected by independent judges and the winners will usually be provided with some startup funding and appropriate support to create real, sustained impact.
Who can apply?
Usually all registered students in the United Kingdom that have an idea for promoting positive wellbeing on campuses. However, each award scheme tends to be designed individually in order to meet specific targets, therefore terms and conditions will vary.
What's the impact of awards?
We want to empower young people and to create happier, healthier campuses that support the flourishing of their members. Each award scheme is designed and judged in order to encourage this, and several performance indicators are established which are used to evaluate the impact of an award scheme between award windows. Applicants are encouraged to continue with their idea even if they do not win, and winners are expected to complete a report and to collect outcomes such as media, feedback and surveys. We also consider the positive impact upon applicants, such as the skills they've developed.
What's in it for applicants?
We receive entries from a wide range of students; some with a particular interest in mental wealth, others who want to build skills and gain content or experience to support their degree programmes or career aspirations. We want winners to be proud of what they've achieved, and to have more than just something for their CV. We expect applicants to gain real skills, on a personal and professional level, and to gain satisfaction from contributing to a big cause.
How are awards funded?
Awards are funded one of two ways. Either through general contributions and fundraising, or through specific arrangements with funders. The latter will typically lead to a bespoke award that has been tailored to target the demographic or issue that is most of interest to the funder (such as The PAPYRUS Award).
