Mental Wealth Groups
A mental wealth group is a community of students that are committed to promoting positive wellbeing on campuses. They are each affiliated to their student union, and collaborate with university departments and the wider community. Mental Wealth UK aims to support a nationwide network of mental wealth groups, each doing things to open minds, create understanding, and connect people with the resources to thrive.
Groups are founded on the shared belief that each and every one of us can do something to promote the wellbeing of ourselves and those around us. Find out more about the mental wealth approach here.
Groups offer a service to their university by helping them to reach students and create engagement. Each group offers a space for students that is supportive, non-judgmental and enriching, and acts as a bridge to useful resources through signposting and information. Groups take a campus-wide approach to wellbeing, working with student organisations, university services, and external organisations. They will typically:
- Encourage discussion and learning through outreach initiatives and talks
- Stimulate happiness and engagement through activities and events
- Break down barriers to wellbeing by campaigning for changes in attitude or policy
