Introducing Group FIFTEEN of our 25: University of Sunderland
Posted on 19th December, 2011
We are proud to announce that the fifteenth of our twenty-five "25by2012" groups is the Sunderland Students Wellbeing Awareness Group (SSWAG) from the University of Sunderland! The group has been formally established within the past month, and was founded out of the ambition to champion and promote wellbeing and positive mental health within the University of Sunderland. Lauren Denby, a second year Psychology student, is leading the group and had this to say about joining as 1 of the 25,
"We are delighted to be part of the 25 for 2012 campaign and we are looking forward to contacting other groups, discussing best practice ideas and initiatives, and sharing ideas and experiences as well as benefiting from the knowledge and guidance of MWUK. We can't wait to formally launch our group under the 25 for 2012 banner and take this fantastic opportunity to really make a difference for students here at the University of Sunderland. We will do this by raising awareness and championing wellbeing and positive mental health, both on campus and in the wider community".
The group has already arranged a health and wellbeing event for students on the 2nd February with widespread participaton from internal and external stakeholders. Students will have the opportunity to experience and learn about a wide range of mental health topics, and the day is set to include healthy eating sessions, alcohol awareness, meditation, massage, university counselling services, volunteering servces and many more!
Everyone here wishes them luck and we have high hopes for their progress over the next academic year.
