Introducing Group NINETEEN of our 25: Liverpool Hope University

We are pleased to announce that the nineteenth of our twenty-five "25by2012" groups is the The Social at Liverpool Hope University! The group aims to raise awareness of mental health through campaigning, run workshops that help with lowering stress levels or deal with a particular student issue, and to create a friendly, open place where students can find company. The student leading the group is Amy Owen-Burrows, who is in her first year of studying Special Needs Education.

On becoming one of the 25, Amy had to say, "Being part of Mental Wealth UK has had a significant effect on my quality of life and I am positive it will continue to do so with others at my university. The information I have obtained from Mental Wealth UK has inspired me to create a friendly and fun place for people to attend, to lower the potential risk of mental well-being related issues.

Being part of the 25 by 2012 is inspirational and moving, to be part of a campaign promoting happiness and well-being stratergies across universities is really something amazing and revoluntionary in the options a student has for information, and in some cases support. Societies like Mental Wealth should have a place in all universities and colleges! I am proud to be part of Mental Wealth UK and intend to keep my society running in support of this campaign throughout my university course, but also to pass on and maintain this gift of friendship and awareness for future students."

The society is currently planning its first major event, set for February, which is centred around the value of hobbies and interests, and how to get involved with these around the university.

We look forward to seeing what they come up with this year with our support and wish them a lot of luck!
