Introducing Group SEVENTEEN of our 25: Leeds Metropolitan University
Posted on 20th December, 2011
We are very excited to announce that the seventeenth of our twenty-five '25by2012' groups is MindHub at Leeds Metropolitan University. The group was founded back in 2009/10. Running the group this year is Beth Martin, a first year Psychology student. On becoming one of the 25, Beth said:
"We are really excited to become a part of Mental Wealth UK, as we here at Leeds Met believe poor mental health to be a predominant issue for students. Our aim is to promote positive wellbeing and generate new ideas to raise awareness and reduce the stigma attached to mental illness. We see our new affiliation with Mental Wealth UK as a great opportunity to gain the necessary support to achieve this."
The group creates an open forum for discussion of and campaigning for issues around mental health and wellbeing. It aims to combat the stigma that surrounds mental health, which can act as a barrier to people getting the support that they need and deserve.
We look forward to seeing them go from strength to strength in 2012!
