Introducing Group TWENTY-ONE of our 25: University of Wolverhampton
Posted on 29th December, 2011
We are very excited to announce that number twenty-one of our twenty-five '25by2012' groups is the University of Wolverhampton Psychology Society. The society has been running for many years, and has this year taken a more proactive approach to promoting positive mental wellbeing on campus and have therefore decided to affiliate with Mental Wealth UK. The Chair of the society, Sally Smith, had the following to say on becoming one of the 25:
Earlier this year, the society ran a successful event for World Mental Health Awareness Day, which saw attendance from both the university counselling services and the Sandwell and Dudley NHS. The society received 204 pledges from staff and students committing to end discrimination against those suffering from mental health problems. The society have been working with Time to Change and gave out all of their leaflets on the day.
A Mental Wealth subcommittee of the society is set to be formally announced in January, with a core group of passionate students already in place to lead it. Already they have the support of the Student Union and university counselling services.
We look forward to seeing them go from strength to strength in 2012!
